Our Story
We're nine sixth formers from Caistor Grammar School, and we built a company because we genuinely care about something most people our age don't think twice about — getting home safe.
LUMERA is part of the Young Enterprise scheme, a UK-wide programme that gives students the chance to run a real business. We took that chance and built something we actually believe in. Not a bake sale. Not a car wash. A product that could stop someone getting hit by a car.
The problem is simple and honestly pretty scary — thousands of pedestrians are seriously injured or killed on UK roads every year, and most incidents happen in low light conditions. Hi-vis vests exist, but nobody carries one. Nobody wants to. They're bulky, ugly, and completely impractical for everyday life.
So we made the LUMERA band. Pure white, hi-visibility, fits in your pocket, snaps onto your wrist in a second. Three times more visible at night than a standard reflective vest, and a fraction of the size. Sustainable packaging. £2.50. No excuses not to have one.
